Concrete curbs or not?

A concrete curb parking lot outside one of our construction transformations.
Nowadays, curbs have become a widespread trend in the layout of commercial and industrial parking lots. We often tend to adopt them without thinking about it, simply because they are ubiquitous and everyone uses them.
However, it is important to take a step back and consider whether these borders are really necessary. It should be kept in mind that installing them in concrete can represent a considerable investment, sometimes up to $50,000 for a parking lot.
But is this investment worth it aesthetically? The answer to this question is subjective, as it depends on individual tastes and the overall vision of the project. Additionally, it is crucial to note that the durability of curbs is not guaranteed. Indeed, snow removal operations can damage these edges, causing cracks and breaks that require costly repairs.

Moreover, the presence or absence of sidewalk curbs in no way affects the quality of the lawn!

On the other hand, it is essential to understand that the presence or absence of curbs does not affect the quality of the surrounding lawn or landscaping. It is possible to achieve a neat and harmonious appearance even without resorting to these expensive elements. It is therefore essential to take these aspects into consideration and think carefully when designing and carrying out a project.
It is important to consult municipal regulations to determine if the installation of curbs is mandatory, as this may vary depending on the rules in force and the specific use of the building.
Indeed, municipal requirements as well as the functions and activities planned for the site can influence the need for curbs. It is therefore recommended to refer to local regulations to obtain precise and complete information on this issue. By paying close attention to detail and evaluating the true suitability of aesthetic choices, significant savings can be made without compromising the overall quality of the end result!
